NEW YORK — Former chess champion Carlsen is upset that the Internet is not using his ranking of his greatest chess games, despite the fact that his most famous game was played at the height of the global recession in 2009.
In an interview with The Associated Press, the 62-year-old Russian, who also owns the world’s top chess grandmaster title, said the ranking system is being used in a way that doesn’t respect his work.
“If I were to play the game tomorrow, I don’t want to be able to talk about my rating.
If you want to talk to me about my ranking, I will talk to you about my rank,” Carlsen said.
I am not interested in any kind of ranking system that is only based on numbers.
I am not afraid of anything.
That is why I don,t care about what the world thinks of me.
And it is not good for chess.
That is why the world is not playing with chess players in this country anymore.
I don`t know why, but they`re not playing chess.
Carlsen’s comments are a response to criticism of his own ranking system.
The world’s best chess player is a former champion and a four-time world champion.
He holds the distinction of being the only player to win the world chess championship in both 1981 and 1990.
Carlsen is ranked second on the world list, with the game of chess, and has been known for years to hold a higher ranking than his rivals.
The move was first reported by Chess.com.
The Associated Press contacted the chess world headquarters in London but has not yet heard back.
Carlsons spokesman, David Stoyanova, said his website is the official chess ranking.
The chess ranking system has been used by the world champion Magnus Carlsen for years and was recently reported by chess.com, which was a former official ranking site, on the chess website chess.org.
Carlssen’s ranking system was first used by British newspaper The Times in 2006 and used by chess world champions Garry Kasparov and Vishy Anand in the 1990s.
But it has been criticized by chess fans, many of whom argue it is being manipulated by computers to produce a predetermined ranking.
Chess officials say the ranking is not based on the quality of the game itself.
The Internet Chess Database is not owned by Carlsens world ranking website and has never been used for ranking purposes.
The database, which uses the chess games that have been played on the Internet, is considered the world`s most complete database.
Carlson was not able to respond to a request for comment from the AP on his own website.
The U.S. has been the world leader in chess since the early 1900s, but chess fans have grown tired of its dominance in recent years.
A decade ago, the U.K. took over from the U,S.
as the number one ranking country.
The United States, China, Germany and France all ranked higher than the U., and Canada, Brazil and India also posted better results than the top three countries.
In recent years, chess has been losing its appeal as a serious competitive sport.
The World Chess Federation said in 2009 that the average age of the players in the top 100 was 30 years old, and it reported that the age of chess`s top players was lower than in 2008.
Chess was ranked 29th in the World Chess League, but it was also ranked 13th by the International Federation of Chess Players, the highest ranking in the world.
In 2010, a report by the World Health Organization said chess was the second leading cause of death in children.
